2:54 am - Japan Transmission
Well hello there!

I havent had much time to sit down and think out whats happened so far, but I'll try my best now. Be warned Im terrible at these things.

The flight into Japan wasnt too bad at all. I planned to synch up my sleepcycle with Japanland the week before, forcing myself to go to sleep after I got back from class, usually waking up at 3am or so. This careful planning got shot to hell when the first day I arrived in the country we stayed up until 5am.

Im staying half and half with my friends Hidetaka and Mika. Hide is a great guy, and the first few days in Japan were spent mostly following him around going crazy having to plan his wedding party. The only downside is that Hide's house is far far far from Tokyo, and its about a 15 minute walk to the train station. He also doesnt have a heater in his house, aand I have to sleep on the hardwood floor with a thin carpet and a blanket to cover me. TOTALLY camping out.
Mikas place, on the other hand, is in Gotanda, which is in Tokyo Proper. Her mom is a total sweetheart, and even though I have troubles speaking coherently enough for her to understand me, I have a lot of fun trying to communicate with the lady. Mika's absolutely infactuated with me, which is both cute and troublesome at the same time. Shes an amazing friend and her english abilities have helped me out in quite a few funky situations, but at times I feel like Im abusing her good nature. I really dont have any feelings for her, and I feel like shes doing all of this to win me over... But in the end I realize I wouldnt have had half as much fun if it wasnt for her hospitality. Its a strange trade off.

The other main goal in my stay here is to meet some nice japanese guys. Basically all my friends that live here are girls, and it makes me feel like the stereotypical invading gaijin whose only purpose is to hunt the nation's women. This plan has gone pretty well, and Ive meet up with a ton of Hide's classmates. Most of our interactions involve me teaching them The Shocker and the meaning of such phrases as "Holy crap!"

Assorted Photos of many sizes!Collapse )

6:29 am - The Longest Day
So, what is a Duncan doing today? Why, standing in line for around FIFTEEN HOURS waiting for the PS3.
No no, I'm not one of THOSE people. But one of those people's lackeys.

(A well-paid lacky, though.)

CAPITALISM!

*UPDATE*
Turns out they did a lottery for places in line. Which means no PS3 for my shady handler, and no cash moneys for me. Ah well...only 2 hours wasted!

How many have your name?
"There are 10,499 people in the U.S. with the first name Duncan" Kinda surprising.

Otherwise, classes are the same. If you talk to me on AIM, you know what's up. Yep...

6:11 pm - ATTENTION CHRISTY.
Calling junemermaid

Steve Blum is in Final Fantasy XII~
...he's a big green lizard-face, but still, you know how it goes.
Voice Acting as a whole is pretty well done. Much better than FFX. Balthier kinda has this Ewan McGreggor thing from Star Wars going on. (His english accent is real, thankfully, and not some awful pseudo-shakespearean thing they usually throw at us in videogames.)

Good game so far. There's a few changes from the japanese version. (I don't remember the prologue being voiced in the original. But you can tell a lot of the audio has been compressed. It has that stuck-in-a-tin-can feeling sometimes.)
I wish I had more control over the battle system, though.
Right now Ashe is driving me crazy. She has the least amount of HP, and she keeps running toward flaming spirit horses. Plus she's a "guest" in the party, so you can't control her and say "HAY! NO TOUCHIE THE BURNING EQUINES!"

Ask three questions about me, and I will answer them with no modesty and complete honesty.

Except for questions that would elicit drama. But you know how it goes.

3:57 pm - Stolen from THE RULER
Okay kids, this is how this works:
If you read this, even if I don't speak to you often, you must post a memory of me.
It can be anything you want, it can be good or bad, just so long as it happened.

Then post this to your journal. See what people remember about you.

Chances are I'll most a memory of you in your journal! It's a huge memory circle jerk!

current mood: creative

Longer journal entry forthcoming. But in the meantime...

Many more in-jokes than the previous ones, so it's probably not as universally funny as the last few were.

Although that does, in fact, say "Fairy Beard" in russian.
